Mother-Owl Shaker and Nest Drum

This charming set is both instrument and art. It celebrates the ancient Andean craft of carving and coloring gourds with heated tools to create complex designs. The mother owl has a single drumhead with seeds or stones to form a rattle, and the nest with owlets is a double-headed drum, played with a wooden beater. Made in the high-mountain towns of Peru, each set is a unique reflection of the maker's art.
