Our handsome catalog documents a collection of instruments featuring the stunning inlay designs created by the greatest contemporary inlay artists and luthiers in North America. Full-color photographs and engaging narratives bring these magnificent instruments to life. The catalog accompanied MIM’s special exhibition by the same name, which was presented in partnership with the Maryland-based inlay company Pearl Works. The majority of the pieces on exhibit came from the private collection of Larry Sifel (1948–2006), the company’s founder. All of the instruments displayed were of limited edition or one-of-a-kind creations, many of which had never before been seen in public.
