Trio - Jake Shimabukuro
Jake Shimabukuro continues to redefine the capabilities of the ukulele in this new release, Trio. Joining Shimabukuro on this album are bassist Nolan Verner and guitarist Dave Preston. From pastoral folk and traditional Hawaiian melodies to incandescent versions of beloved classics like Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” this CD further explores the limitless possibilities of the ukulele in Shimabukuro’s spectacular, genre-bending style.
MIM’s popular Artist Gallery includes an exhibit featuring Shimabukuro’s tenor ukulele, custom-made by Casey Kamaka. This instrument, on loan from the artist, was used in his video recording of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” which went viral in 2006.
