Wingo Egg Shaker

Wingo is the name of the ancient tree that grows in the jungle surrounding the Amazon River. The tree produces the wingo nut, which stores a watermelon-like fruit and black seeds, making these nuts excellent natural shakers. Traditional and modern designs are hand-carved onto the nut’s outer surface by the Shipibo peoples of the Amazon region. These fair-trade egg shakers are made by artisans in Peru.
