Arizona artist Nancy Low uses repurposed bits of china to form frames for unique home accents. The mosaic technique known as pique assiette began long ago in France as a way of recycling broken porcelain tableware. Each work of art may use as many as seven plates to incorporate a color scheme and distinct pattern into the design of the frame.

The dog figurines in this piece were made in Japan during the American occupation (1945–1952).
