This compact instrument is the smallest of the Hokema kalimbas, making it a convenient travel companion. It is fitted with five tines on solid American black cherrywood, which produce a bright and clear F-minor triad when plucked with the thumbs. The sound of the kalimba can be amplified by laying it on the top of a table or attaching it to the skin of a drum.
