Hand drums are traditional Peruvian instruments, but similar versions are found in Africa and various parts of the world. Many of these instruments can be found on display throughout the museum’s galleries. The universal appeal may be due to its ease of play, which is simply to spin the beads attached to the end of each string back and forth on the drumhead. These hand drums feature a selection of beautiful hand-screened designs, including the red heart motif “Love,” the purple note motif “Music,” or a traditional “Sugar Skull” motif.
