Elgin Tom Maize Necklace
Navajo artist Elgin Tom was born in Gallup, New Mexico. Both his father and grandfather were silversmiths, and Elgin learned his craft from them. Influenced by his grandfather, Elgin makes his own unique, intricate molds by hand to create his jewelry. His original maize jewelry collection was inspired by his interest in the northern Native American art of totem-pole painting. Each series of the maize coil design represents symbols of family and clan.
