The special exhibition American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music was organized by Seattle’s Experience Music Project with the University of Washington. Displayed at MIM in 2010, American Sabor was the first major museum exhibition to explore the role of Latinos in shaping post–World War II American popular music and culture. The exhibition focused on the five major U.S. cities that produced Latino music: New York City, Los Angeles, San Antonio, San Francisco, and Miami. This first edition was published in conjunction with the exhibition and includes twenty-five illustrations.
