Django Reinhardt was the definitive gypsy guitarist of pre‒and post‒World War II Europe. Even though he suffered a severe injury to his left hand, he continued to develop the extraordinary technique that brought him acclaim as a jazz performer. His partnership with violin player Stéphane Grappelli formed a fusion of sound and rhythm that lives into modern music.

This CD features Reinhardt’s band, Quintette du Hot Club de France, recorded in 1949. The spirited music of the Roma and the complexities of jazz guitar hold prominent places in MIM’s Europe and United States-Canada galleries.
